Sullivan Ballou Letter

Own your own copy of the famous Sullivan Ballou letter quoted by Senator Chuck Schumer at President Donald Trump's Inauguration and also quoted in the Ken Burns book and documentary film series The Civil War. Sullivan Ballou (March 28, 1829 – July 29, 1861) was a lawyer and politician from Rhode Island, and major in the Union Army during the American Civil War. He is best remembered for the eloquent letter he wrote to his wife one week before he fought and died in the First Battle of Bull Run. Reading the letter, one can sense the great depth of love between husband and wife, and of a father for his children, as well as his deep patriotism and belief in the cause for which he was willing to lay down his life.

Earring Making Class Encore

On the 12th, we held a free class on making easy dangle earrings. Several people expressed regret that they had to miss it, and we have supplies left over, so we're going to run it again for you!

When: February 7th, 3pm

Where: Upstairs, at the tables next to the circulation desk

Who?: Anyone! Our youngest participant last time was 5, and with some help she made herself earrings!

Description:
Have you ever wanted to learn how to make simple dangle earrings? Or do you need an idea for a VALENTINE'S DAY PRESENT? Then this class is for you, and it's easier than you think! All necessary tools and materials will be provided, but if you have some beads of your own that you'd like to use, bring them and we'll show you how to use them. Participants will be able to make and finish several pairs of earrings that they can take home with them.
